Like Plants? Want to be a Citizen Scientist?

The USA National Phenology Network (NPN) and the US Geological Survey (USGS) have started a program wherein you get to be involved cataloging the changes in the flora around you. Your observations will be included in a study that will help to understand the effects of climate change.

I think this would be a great way to get your kids involved in something that is easily accomplished in your own yard! I plan on getting my 13yr old involved.

Obama overturns Bush ruling

Thank you President Obama! Through the use of a Presidential memo, he has overturned one of Bush's Midnight rulings that allowed government agencies, with little to no wildlife expert staffing, to make decisions on projects which involved endagered or near-endagered species.
